Digital electrical access locks (otherwise known as electronic access locks) work by replacing the mechanical push button with an electronic operating signal. Electronic key fobs/card trigger the electro-mechanical lock on the door to gain access, and doors are automatically locked when closed, and provide the most flexible and integrational forms of access control.

There are a huge number of electronic digital access control locks on the market today, however, our 35+ years experience in the business Severn Valley Window & Door has firmly established our commitment to installing only solenoid operated latch release strikes and solenoid shoot bolts in fail secure and fail safe formats, with or without emergency battery back-up to provide the same level of security.

The more commonly seen magnetic door locks do not provide the same level of security and use large amounts of current which can quickly drain a battery when in back-up mode, as they generally only secure a door at the top of the door leaf their installation will also invalidate a door manufacturers warranty.
